Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about booking soft glam, bridal, and deep complexion makeup artistry across Gwinnett County & Metro Atlanta, Georgia.
Location & Service Area
Where is Decked Out Beauty located, and what areas do you serve?
Decked Out Beauty is based in Gwinnett County, Georgia, and serves all of Metro Atlanta — including Lawrenceville, Duluth, Snellville, Buford, Suwanee, Norcross, Decatur, and the city of Atlanta. Lead artist Derrica travels on-location to wedding venues, hotels, production sets, and private residences throughout Georgia.
Do you travel to my wedding venue for makeup?
Yes. Decked Out Beauty is a fully mobile, on-location bridal makeup service. Derrica brings a complete professional kit and lighting to your venue, getting-ready suite, or home anywhere in Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta. Travel beyond the standard service area can be arranged for destination weddings and productions.
Are you available for weddings outside of Atlanta?
Yes — Decked Out Beauty accepts bookings across Georgia, including Athens, Marietta, Alpharetta, and North Georgia venues, as well as select destination weddings. Reach out early with your date and venue so travel can be confirmed.
Soft Glam & Signature Looks
Do you do soft glam makeup?
Yes — soft glam is one of Decked Out Beauty's signature looks. Derrica specializes in luminous, skin-first soft glam: a flawless but breathable complexion, softly sculpted eyes, and long-wear finishes that photograph beautifully in natural light, flash, and on camera. It's the most requested bridal style in her Metro Atlanta bookings.
What makeup styles do you offer?
Decked Out Beauty offers soft glam, classic bridal, full glam, natural "your skin but better" looks, editorial, and camera-ready makeup for TV and film. Every look is customized to your features, undertone, skin type, and the lighting of your event.
Will my makeup last all day and photograph well?
Yes. Derrica uses professional long-wear techniques and products tested under HD cameras and Georgia humidity. Bridal applications are built to last through the ceremony, photos, dancing, and happy tears — with a photography-first approach drawn from her TV and film background.
Deep Complexion & Melanin-Rich Skin
Do you specialize in makeup for deep skin tones?
Yes — deep complexion artistry is Decked Out Beauty's core specialty. Derrica is an expert in makeup for melanin-rich and deep skin tones, with over a decade of experience matching undertones that are frequently mismatched by non-specialist artists. She developed the proprietary Deep Complexion Color System™ (DCCS™), a professional methodology for accurately assessing undertones in deep skin.
I've had bad experiences with artists getting my foundation wrong. How are you different?
This is exactly why Decked Out Beauty exists. Derrica uses a structured undertone assessment — not guesswork — to identify your true undertone and match your complexion precisely. Her Deep Complexion Color System™ was built specifically to solve ashy, gray, or orange foundation mismatches on deep skin. Your trial confirms the match before your wedding day.
Do you do makeup for Black brides in Atlanta?
Yes — Decked Out Beauty is one of Metro Atlanta's go-to makeup artists for Black brides and brides with deep or melanin-rich complexions. Derrica's portfolio centers deep complexion bridal work, from soft glam to full glam, across Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta venues.
Can you match makeup for a bridal party with a range of skin tones?
Absolutely. Derrica's kit is professionally stocked for the full spectrum of complexions — from the fairest to the deepest skin tones — so every member of your bridal party is matched accurately, not approximately.
Bridal Booking & Process
Is a bridal trial included?
Yes — every Decked Out Beauty bridal package includes a trial. Your trial is where we finalize your look, confirm your complexion match, and test wear before the wedding day.
How far in advance should I book my wedding makeup artist?
Most brides book 6–12 months before their wedding date, and peak-season dates in Georgia (spring and fall) book earliest. Once your date is confirmed with a signed contract and retainer, it's yours exclusively.
How does booking work?
After your consultation call, you'll receive a personalized recap and proposal. Booking is confirmed with a signed contract and a 50% retainer; the remaining balance is due before your event date. Bridal party headcount is locked at contract signing, with substitutions allowed.
Can you accommodate a large bridal party?
Yes. For bridal parties of five or more, Derrica brings a professional assistant (with two weeks' notice) to keep your morning timeline smooth and on schedule. Additional applications beyond the bride can be added per person.
What's included in a bridal makeup application?
Skin prep tailored to your skin type, full complexion work with precise undertone matching, lashes, long-wear setting, and touch-up guidance for the day. Add-ons such as touch-up services through the reception can be arranged.
TV, Film & Production
Do you work on film and TV productions?
Yes — Derrica works as a Key Makeup Artist on independent film and television productions in the Atlanta market. She offers camera-ready beauty, HD-friendly complexion work, and deep complexion expertise for on-screen talent.
Can productions hire you for talent with deep skin tones?
Yes — and this is a frequent reason productions book Decked Out Beauty. Derrica's deep complexion specialty ensures on-screen talent with melanin-rich skin is lit-ready and accurately matched under production lighting, a common gap on set.
Pricing & Education
How much does bridal makeup cost?
Bridal makeup with Decked Out Beauty starts at $350+ for the bride, with your trial included in the bridal package. You'll receive a personalized quote after your consultation based on your date, location, party size, and services.
Do you offer makeup lessons or education?
Yes. Beyond client services, Derrica is the founder of Hue | Gradient & Co.™, a beauty education brand teaching professional artists deep complexion color theory through the Deep Complexion Color System™ (DCCS™). Client-facing lessons and one-on-one sessions may also be available — inquire for current offerings.
